Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Mordvinic *nur-ka~*nir-kä. Probably related to Proto-Finnic *nërkka (weak, feeble, frail), whence Finnish nerkko, Estonian nõrk, Livonian nȭrka.

Akin to Moksha нюрьхкя (ńuŕhkä).
