Etymology[edit]
пол- (pol-, “half”) + оди́ннадцатый (odínnadcatyj, “eleventh”), with оди́ннадцатый (odínnadcatyj) in the genitive case, as with other words prefixed with пол- (pol-). Compare German halb elf (“half past ten”, literally “half eleven”).
