Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic свѧщеньнъ (svęštenĭnŭ). Compare Russian свяще́нный (svjaščénnyj), Belarusian свяшчэ́нны (svjaščénny). Doublet of свя́че́ний (svjáčényj), the inherited Old East Slavic form.
