Etymology

Duplicated application of хем (hem).

1. Used for emphasized conjunctive enumeration.: both … and

   Synonym: и ... и ... (i ... i ...)

   Хем боли́, хем сърби́. ― Hem bolí, hem sǎrbí. ― It both aches and itches.

   Хем така́, хем онака́. ― Hem taká, hem onaká. ― Both this way and that way.

   Хем скъп, хем нека́чествен. ― Hem skǎp, hem nekáčestven. ― [In the same time] being expensive and of low quality.

   По то́зи на́чин хем ще свърши́м зада́чата по-бъ́рзо, хем ще спести́м пари́.

   Po tózi náčin hem šte svǎrším zadáčata po-bǎ́rzo, hem šte spestím parí.

   In this manner, [we] shall both complete the task faster and save [some] money.
