Etymology[edit]
From sana- (“to count”), from Proto-Turkic *sān (“number”), from Proto-Turkic *sā- (“to count”).
Cognate with Kazakh санау (sanau, “to count”), Kyrgyz саноо (sanoo, “to count”), Turkmen sanamak (“to count”), Uzbek sanamoq (“to count”).
