Etymology[edit]
From *sekir- (“to jump”), from Proto-Turkic *sēk- (“to jump”).[1]
Cognate with Kazakh секіру (sekıru), Kyrgyz секирүү (sekirüü), Uzbek sakramoq (“to jump”), Yakut эккирээ (ekkiree, “to jump on the spot”), etc.
