Nivkh[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Nivkh *ɢanŋ.

Similar to other Eurasian dog words such as Proto-Sino-Tibetan *d-kʷəj-n and Proto-Indo-European *ḱwṓ, but this is likely to be a coincidence or a parallel onomatopoeic derivation.

Pronunciation[edit]
