From Persian [Term?], equivalent to شاه (šâh, shah, king) +‎ نظر (nazar, sight, look), as if meaning "he who has been graced by the king's gaze." Notable as the name of several Armenian rulers of one of the melikdoms of Karabakh, the family name of which was Shahnazarian after its founder.
