[edit]The origin is unknown.[1][2] J̌ahukyan compares with Arabic مَهْجَع (mahjaʕ, “bedroom, dormitory”).[3]

- ի մահիճս մահու ― i mahičs mahu ― on one's deathbed
- անկեալ դնիլ ի մահիճս ― ankeal dnil i mahičs ― to take to one's bed, to keep one's bed, to be bedridden
- ելանել յօտար մահիճս, յանցանել ըստ մահիճս իւր ― elanel yōtar mahičs, yancʻanel əst mahičs iwr ― to defile another's bed
