Etymology[edit]

A dialectal word, attested also as Middle Armenian տկլոզ (tkloz). The origin is uncertain. Martirosyan proposes derivation from Proto-Armenian *tukno-, from *nukno-, from Proto-Indo-European *nogʷno-, from *negʷ-.
