Saraiki[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Prakrit 𑀉𑀩𑁆𑀪 (ubbha), from Sanskrit ऊर्ध्व (ūrdhvá), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *r̥Hdʰwás (“high, upright”), from Proto-Indo-European *h₃r̥dʰ-wó-s (“high, upright”).
The sense 'north' comes from the fact that the 'land up-river' is in the north.
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
اُبّھا (ubbhā) m (feminine اُبّھی, Devanagari उब्भा)
