Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *etek (lap, edge of cloth); cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (etek), Azerbaijani ətək, Bashkir итәк (itək), Kazakh етек (etek), Khakas идек (idek), Turkmen etek, Uyghur ئېتەك (ëtek) and Uzbek etak.
