ارز (arz-, present stem of ارزیدن (arzidan, to be worth)) +‎ ـش (-eš).

From Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hargʰás (price, value), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂elgʷʰ-ós. Cognate with Ossetian аргъ (arǧ).
