Morphologically, from the root ح م ر (ḥ-m-r) (related to donkeys).

  2. (neologism) likening someone to a donkey, describing someone as fool or slow, describing someone as (easily) manipulated.

      يَبْرُزُ هُنَا مُصْطَلَحُ «ٱلِٱسْتِحْمَارِ» كَمُضَادٍّ لِلنَّبَاهَةِ وَٱلْأَصَالَةِ وَٱلْإِبْدَاعِ، وَهِيَ ٱلصِّفَاتُ ٱلَّتِي تُكَوِّنُ ٱلذَّاتَ ٱلْفَاعِلَةَ فِي ٱلْمُجْتَمَعِ وَتَجْعَلُهُ كِيَانًا مُسْتَعْصِيًا عَلَى ٱلِٱسْتِبْدَادِ وَٱلِٱسْتِعْمَارِ، حِينَ تَخْتَفِي هَذِهِ ٱلصِّفَاتُ يَبْرُزُ ٱلِٱسْتِحْمَارُ كَضِدٍّ مُنَاسِبٍ لِنُشُوءِ ٱلِٱسْتِبْدَادِ.
      yabruzu hunā muṣṭalaḥu “l-istiḥmāri” kamuḍāddin linnabāhati wal-ʔaṣālati wal-ʔibdāʕi, wahiya ṣ-ṣifātu llatī tukawwinu ḏ-ḏāta l-fāʕilata fī l-mujtamaʕi watajʕaluhu kiyānan mustaʕṣiyan ʕalā l-istibdādi wal-istiʕmāri, ḥīna taḵtafī haḏihi ṣ-ṣifātu yabruzu l-istiḥmāru kaḍiddin munāsibin linušūʔi l-istibdādi.
      Here arises the term «istiḥmār» as opposite to wokeness and originality and creativity, which are the characters that construct the effective self in the society and make it an entity hard and defiant to oppression and colonialism, when these characters disappear donkeying arise as and appropriate opposite to the formation of oppression.
