Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ökče (heel); cognate with Azerbaijani ökcə, Bashkir үксә (üksə), Kazakh өкше (ökşe), Kyrgyz өкчө (ökcö), Southern Altai энчек (enček), Tatar үкчә (ükçä), Turkmen ökje and Uyghur ئوكچە (okche).

  1. heel, the rear part of the foot, where it joins the leg
    Synonyms: طوپوق (topuk), عقب (ʿakab)
  2. heel, the part of a shoe or sock that covers the foot's heel
  3. spur on a door that supports it, and turns in a socket in the threshold
