Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tǖk (hair, feather); cognate with Azerbaijani tük (hair), Bashkir төк (tök), Chuvash тӗк (tĕk), Kazakh түк (tük), Kyrgyz түк (tük), Turkmen tüý, Uyghur تۈك (tük), Uzbek tuk and Yakut түү (tüü).
