Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *sēk- (to jump); cognate with Azerbaijani səkmək, Chuvash сик (sik), Turkmen sekmek and, more distantly, Hungarian szökik.

  1. (intransitive) to hop, jump on one single foot
  2. (intransitive) to skip, jump lightly and quickly
  3. (intransitive) to skip, ricochet or bounce over a surface
