Etymology[edit]

From the root ص خ م (ṣ-ḵ-m). May be related to سَخَّمَ (saḵḵama, to blacken with soot).

From Arabic سَخَّمَ (saḵḵama, to blacken with soot), may be related to obsolete صَخَمَ (ṣaḵama, to burn, to scorch).
