Etymology[edit]

An extension of ف ص ص (f-ṣ-ṣ) dating to Central Semitic. Compare later development of ح ص ل (ḥ-ṣ-l) from ح ص ص (ḥ-ṣ-ṣ) and even later قَصَلَ (qaṣala).
