Borrowed from Classical Persian قبضه (qabza, property, fist, power), from Arabic قَبْضَة (qabḍa, clutch, fist, authority).

  1. occupation; annexation, takeover
  2. seizure (of property, assets, etc.)
    اس زمین پر مافیا کا قبضہ ہے۔
    is zamīn par māfiyā kā qabza hai.
    The mafia has taken over this land.
    (literally, “On this land, is the mafia's occupation.”)
