Borrowed from Turkic. Compare Turkish kurbağa (frog), Azerbaijani qurbağa (frog), Uzbek qurbaqa (frog).

Largely displaced Iranian terms for "frog" such as وک (vak), inherited from Middle Persian, and غوک (ğuk) and چغز (čağz), both from Sogdian.
