Borrowed from an unattested Persian word which derives from the verb کستن (kustan, to beat).

  1. hobble, tether, fetter, any kind of rope or chain used to prevent animals from escaping
    Synonym: بوقاغی (bukağı)
  2. (nautical) lanyard, a short rope used for fastening rigging, as a handle, etc.
  3. (by extension) watchchain, a short chain attached to a watch
