From نه (ne) + ایسه (ise) + نه (ne). Compare Old Turkic [script needed] (nerse, “thing; object”) (from *ne + *erse). Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *nē- (“what”), whence also Ottoman Turkish نه (ne).
