- good day (a greeting generally used between sunrise and sunset)
- ܝܵܘܡܵܐ ܒܪܝܼܟ݂ܵܐ ܝܵܐ ܚܲܒ݂ܪܝܼ! ܕܵܐܟ݂ܝܼ ܝܘܸܬ ܐܸܕܝܵܘܡ؟ ― yāwmā brīḵā yā ḥaḇrī ! dāḵī ìwet idyāwm? ― Good day my friend! how are you today?
- have a nice day (a typical valediction when parting)
- ܬܲܘܕܝܼ، ܝܵܘܡܵܐ ܒܪܝܼܟ݂ܵܐ! ― tawdī, yāwmā brīḵā! ― Thank you, have a nice day!
Usage notes[edit]
- In formal situations the possessive pronoun endings are attached to ܝܵܘܡܵܐ (yāwmā); in the masculine singular form ܝܵܘܡܘܼܟ݂ ܒܪܝܼܟ݂ܵܐ (yāwmoḵ brīḵā), in the feminine singular ܝܵܘܡܵܟ݂ܝ ܒܪܝܼܟ݂ܵܐ (yāwmāḵ brīḵā), and in the plural ܝܵܘܡܵܘܟ݂ܘܿܢ ܒܪܝܼܟ݂ܵܐ (yāwmoḵon brīḵā).
