Borrowed from Persian زیادتی (ziyâdati), from Arabic زِيَادَةِ (ziyādati). Related to जादा (jādā). Compare Gujarati જાસ્તી (jāstī), Kannada ಜಾಸ್ತಿ (jāsti), dialectal Punjabi ਜਾਸਤੀ (jāstī), Bengali জাস্তি (jasti).

  • जास्त (jāsta), अधिक (adhik) and कमी (kamī) are used to explicitly indicate the comparative degree of adjectives.[1]
    जास्त हुशारjāsta huśārsmarter, more intelligent
    अधिक हुशारadhik huśārsmarter, more intelligent
    कमी हुशारkamī huśārless smart, less intelligent
  • सर्वात (जास्त) is one way to indicate the superlative degree of adjectives. [1]
