Borrowed from Kannada ಪಿಳ್ಳೆ (piḷḷe).

  1. young one in general (of dogs, cats, hares, frogs &c. and m of hens, parrots, crows, and some other birds)
  2. an offshoot from the root (as of the Plantain or Bamboo)
  3. a sucker or stole.
