Borrowed from Classical Persian پیاله (piyāla). First attested as Old Hindi पियाला (piyālā). Compare Bengali পেয়ালা (peẏala), Gujarati પ્યાલો (pyālo), Odia ପିଆଲା (piala), Punjabi ਪਿਆਲਾ (piālā).
