Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Marathi फार (phāra), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀨𑀸𑀭 (phāra), from Sanskrit स्फार (sphārá). Cognate to Gujarati ફાર (phār, too much).

    तो फार चांगला माणूस आहे.
    to phār cāṅglā māṇūs āhe.

    Synonym: खूप (khūp) (From Persian)
    तुझ्या सहाय्याची फार आवश्यकता होती.
    tujhyā sahāyyācī phār āvashyakatā hotī.
    Your help was much needed.
  3. exceedingly
    ती बाई फार बोलते.
    tī bāī phār bolte.
    That woman talks excessively.
