Borrowed from Punjabi ਰੱਸੀ (rassī), from Prakrit 𑀭𑀲𑁆𑀲𑀺 (rassi), from Sanskrit रश्मि (raśmi), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *raćmíš. Doublet of रास (rās).
