Etymology

Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀮𑀩𑁆𑀩 (*labba) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-). Related to लफंगा (laphaṅgā). Compare Hindustani لَباڑ (labāṛ) / लबाड़ (labāṛ), Odia ନାବଡ଼ା (nabôṛa).
