Inherited from Early Assamese নাৰিকল (narikolo), borrowed from Sanskrit নাৰিকেল (nārikela), from a Dravidian language. Cognate with Sylheti ꠘꠣꠁꠞ꠆ꠇꠟ (nairkol).
