Borrowed from Classical Persian مسلمان (musalmān), from Arabic مُسْلِمُون (muslimūn), plural form of مُسْلِم (muslim, one who submits). Compare Hindi मुसलमान (musalmān), Gujarati મુસલમાન (musalmān), Marathi मुसलमान (musalmān), Punjabi ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ (muslamān). Doublet of মুসলিম (muslim).
