Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀅𑀢𑁆𑀣𑀸𑀳 (atthāha), from Sanskrit अस्थाघ (asthāgha, very deep). Cognate with Assamese অথাউনি (othauni), Hindustani اتھاہ / अथाह (athāh), Nepali अथाह् (athāh), Punjabi اتھاہ / ਅਥਾਹ (athāh), and Sindhi اَٿاه (athāhu).
