Etymology[edit]
Derived from Sanskrit खर्जु (kharju, “itching”). Cognate with Hindustani کُھجَانَا (khujānā) / खुजाना (khujānā), Marathi खाजणे (khājṇe), and Odia ଖୁଜାଇବା (khujaiba).
