Borrowed from Prakrit 𑀤𑁄𑀡𑀺 (doṇi), from Sanskrit द्रोणि (droṇi). Cognate with Telugu దోనె (dōne), Kannada ದೋಣಿ (dōṇi), Malayalam തോണി (tōṇi).
