Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Southwestern Tai *ˀdɯkᴰˢ³ (“asleep; late (at night)”), from Proto-Tai *ɗɯkᴰ (“late (at night)”). Cognate with Lao ເດິກ (dœk), Shan လိုၵ် (lǔek), Nong Zhuang ndaek.
