Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Mon-Khmer *briiʔ (“forest”). Cognate with Semelai bri, Koho bri (“forest, bush”), Khasi bri, Mang ʑiː⁶, Khmu [Cuang] briʔ, Hu pʁíʔ, Pear priː. Cognate with Thai ไพร (prai, “forest, jungle”).
