From ឧក (ʼok, “first constituent in titles of the mandarinate”) + ញា (ñiə, “to know”).

- (historical) A Cambodian title equivalent to marquess or marquis.
- nobleman or lord, an honorary title of modern Cambodia.
Usage notes[edit]
A title of Khmer officials since the eighteenth century, it was created to replace the word ពញា, and it ranks above ព្រះ and below អ្នកឧកញ៉ា.
