Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Tai *C̥.baːᴮ (“shoulder”).
Cognate with Northern Thai ᨷ᩵ᩤ, Lao ບ່າ (bā), Shan မႃႇ (màa) or ဝႃႇ (wàa), Thai บ่า (bàa), Ahom 𑜈𑜡 (bā), Zhuang mbaq. Compare Proto-Austronesian *qabaʀa (“shoulder”).
