Etymology[edit]

Compare ῥέπω (rhépō, to incline) and ῥέμβω (rhémbō, to turn in circles). Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *werb- (to bend, turn), shared with Latin verber, Proto-Germanic *warpą.[1]
