From Demotic ꜥklṱꜣ.t, from Egyptian ꜥgrt. Ultimately borrowed from Northwest Semitic *ʿagalt- ("wagon, cart"). Compare Aramaic עֲגַלְתָּא (ʿăḡaltā), Hebrew עֲגָלָה (ʿăḡālā), and Phoenician 𐤏𐤂𐤋𐤕 (ʿglt).
