From () (ki, (れん)(よう)(けい) (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of the verb () (kiru, to wear).) + (ふと) (futori, (れん)(よう)(けい) (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of the verb (ふと) (futoru, to become fat).). The futori changes to butori as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
