Sino-Korean word from 譜 (“genealogy”) + 學 (“study”).

- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈpo̞(ː)ɦa̠k̚]
- Phonetic hangul: [보(ː)학]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
