Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Proto-Turkic *egir- (“to spin”). Cognate with Old Uyghur ’nkyr, Khalaj heyirmək, Turkish eğirmek, Uzbek yigirmoq. Compare also Mongolian ээрэх (eerex), a Turkic borrowing.
