Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yaruk (light), equivalent to 𐰖𐰺𐰆 (yaru-, to shine) +‎ 𐰸 (-uq). Cognate with Uzbek yorugʻ, Kazakh жарық (jaryq), Yakut сырдык (sırdık).
