Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Common Turkic *böŋre- (to howl). Cognate with Turkish böğürmek, Bashkir мөңрәү (möñrəw), Yakut маҥыраа (mañıraa, to moo). Compare also Proto-Mongolic *büxüre- (to howl), Proto-Tungusic *būni- (to howl).
