Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kumursga (“ant”). Cognate with Khalaj qumurğâç, Salar gumısgan, Uzbek qumursqa, Bashkir ҡырмыҫҡа (qırmıśqa), Yakut кымырдаҕас (kımırdağas).
