Inherited from Proto-Turkic *-siŕ (-less). Cognate with Old Uyghur -syz (-siz), Chuvash -сӗр (-sĕr), Turkish -siz, Uzbek -siz, Bashkir -һеҙ (-heź), Tuvan -сиз (-siz).
