Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀆𑀡𑀯𑀓 (*āṇavaka). Cognate with Punjabi ਆਨਾ (ānā) / آنا (ānā), Hindustani آنَہ (āna) / आना (ānā), Gujarati આનો (āno).
