  1. added to a noun, to create words for a (male or female) person who provides care for that noun:
    νόσος (nósos, disease) + ‎-κόμος (-kómos) → ‎νοσοκόμος (nosokómos, nurse)
    βρέφος (vréfos, infant) + ‎-κόμος (-kómos) → ‎βρεφοκόμος (vrefokómos, foundling hospital nurse)
    γέρος (géros, old man) + ‎-κόμος (-kómos) → ‎γηροκόμος (girokómos, old people's home nurse)
  2. added to certain food-related nouns, to create words for a (male or female) person who produces that food:
